Grim cesta - Guild Wars Forums

I was just about to log out but remembered something.... I actually made one and my ranger uses it in conjunction with his bow...but I can't find any information anywhere on it.... what exactly is it and what purpose does the grim cesta serve for the ranger? near as I can tell.. he would be wearing it as a wrist guard while bow equipped..( as graphic I suppose)..just don't understand its reasoning.

the grim cesta is a focus item that goes in your off-hand. since the bow is a two-handed weapon, you couldnt actually use one with it. therefore it is fairly useless for a a ranger.
i believe that they are generally linked to necro attributes and provide an energy boost. as with any other foci, there may be modifiers as well.

being that you can only craft things you yourself can use...and the same goes for equipping said items...if I get no benefits for wearing one..how come it lets me equip myself with one on with a bow?...let alone craft one.....
so does this mean it would be only beneficial if I tied it into a second profession under a different weapon combo or what?

different weapon. i noticed that if i equiped a bow or other two handed weapon, even though my shield/focus is still listed in the paperdoll, it was in i believe red. i don't know if they have changed it so that it will actually unequip it and put it back in your inventory or not now.

i am not sure exactly how you equipped it with a bow. you may have assigned it to that particular weapon slot, but that does not mean it was equipped. if it was, you would see it when you were out on a mission or in an explorable area.
anyone can craft any weapon, shield, focus and equip it, although they may not be able to use it very well. what would an elementalist do with a hammer? anyway, i am guessing that the craftable one either has an attribute requirement or just has the standard +5en bonus. i have no experience with the craftable grim cesta, only the ones i have seen drop countless times in every BWE since the WPE. like i have said, anything higher than the standard +5en bonus will require a certain attribute level, which in the case of the grim cesta is usually a necro attribute. unless you are a ranger that is using a 1-handed weapon, there is a really good chance that you crafted an item that is absolutely worthless to you.
